India-EU free trade agreement: State of play and way forward -
India and the European Union have been negotiating a bilateral free trade agreement known as the Broad-based Trade and Investment Agreement (BTIA) since 2007, with the last round happening in 2013. The article in this issue of Amicus notes that despite the mutual interest in fostering bilateral trade and investments, India and the EU have divergent interests in the negotiations. According to the author, some recent events including the ongoing Brexit negotiations and the termination of investment treaties by India might have a direct impact on the BTIA and one can expect negotiations to resume in the near future.
